NCAA Tournament 2025: Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology features 13 SEC teams in field

NCAA Tournament talk is heating up. That’s always the case this time of year as we hit the end of February.
There are only a couple of weeks left in the regular season, so it’s time for bubble teams to make their moves — one way or the other. This year, the SEC is absolutely loaded. The 16-team league should shatter the record set by the Big East when it got 11 teams into the tournament in 2011.
ESPN expert Joe Lunardi updated his bracketology projections ahead of the SEC’s midweek slate. He has 13 teams from the league currently making the 68-team field with another just on the wrong side of the bubble.
Here’s a look at where Lunardi currently has these 14 SEC squads:
- Auburn — No. 1 seed (South)
- Alabama — No. 1 seed (Midwest)
- Florida — No. 1 seed (West)
- Tennessee — No. 2 seed (East)
- Kentucky — No. 3 seed (South)
- Texas A&M — No. 3 seed (West)
- Mizzou — No. 5 seed (East)
- Mississippi State — No. 7 seed (Midwest)
- Ole Miss — No. 7 seed (West)
- Vanderbilt — No. 10 seed (South)
- Texas — No. 11 seed (East)
- Oklahoma — No. 11 seed (Midwest)
- Arkansas — No. 11 seed (West)
- Georgia — Next 4 Out
Texas is among the Last 4 Byes in Lunardi’s projections, while Oklahoma and Arkansas are both in the “Last 4 In” section. LSU and South Carolina are the only teams from the SEC that currently don’t have a chance to make March Madness (outside of a miracle run to the SEC Tournament title).
