North Carolina adds versatile 7-footer via transfer out of Pac-12

North Carolina did not have the kind of season it was hoping for this season, narrowly squeezing into the final March Madness bracket. The Tar Heels would register a First Four victory over San Diego State but were promptly eliminated by Ole Miss in the Round of 64.
Now, it’s up to Hubert Davis to get North Carolina basketball back where it belongs, and that’s competing for the ACC title and a deep run in March. The transfer portal will play a role in that, and a key piece was added on Friday.
Henri Veesaar, a versatile 7-footer from Arizona, committed to the Tar Heels as a major piece for the front court. He appeared in 37 games for the Wildcats this past season, averaging over 20 minutes per game and delivering a unique performance across the board.
Veesaar averaged 9.4 points, 5 rebounds,1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks while shooting 59% from the floor. Veesaar also has the ability to step out a bit, shooting 32.7% from the 3-point line this past season.
North Carolina did lose starting point guard Elliot Cadeau to the portal via a transfer to Michigan, but that is the only significant transfer departure thus far to the Tar Heels. On the flip side, UNC has now added Veesaar and Jonathan Powell, an 8.3 points per game contributor to West Virginia as a true freshman.
