North Carolina’s trip to Dayton for the First Four has been delayed.

The Tar Heels evidently ran into travel issues related to their charter flight, which was previously scheduled to arrive in Dayton at approximately 4 p.m. local time on Monday.

“North Carolina’s press conference and practice will be delayed due to travel issues,” the NCAA said in a statement.

According to a report from the News & Observer, UNC is now scheduled to arrive at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday. That means the Tar Heels will miss their scheduled media availability and open practice window. Those periods may be rescheduled, although details have not been announced. Per the News & Observer, Carolina’s plane departed RDU International Airport at 5:12 p.m. on Monday.

While not a significant setback, this is perhaps an ominous start to UNC’s 2025 NCAA Tournament experience. Carolina’s inclusion in the field has been controversial from the start, so this is yet another obstacle North Carolina will have to overcome if it wants to reach the Round of 64.

North Carolina is favored by 4.5 points over San Diego State in the First Four matchup, per the latest odds from FanDuel. Tip-off is set for 9:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
