Oklahoma gave its NCAA Tournament resume a boost by picking up a key win over No. 15 Mizzou on Wednesday night in Norman, 96-84. The Sooners improved to 18-12 on the season, picking up a key Quad 1 win.

Oklahoma was in control for most of the game. Mizzou led only for a total of 41 seconds in the 1st half. The Sooners led for over 37 minutes of game time, by as many as 18 points.

Jeremiah Fears was the star of the night. The freshman OU guard was the game’s high scorer with 31 points, a career-high.

Fears up double figures in each half. He was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field in the 1st half, scoring 13 with 1 3-pointer and 2 free throws. He was 4-of-8 from the field in the 2nd half, but scored 18 by making all 10 free-throw attempts. Fears added 5 assists and 4 rebounds on his night to remember.

On a high-scoring night, the Sooners had 4 in double figures. Joining Fears were Sam Godwin (12 points), Jalon Moore (11) and Mohamed Wague (12). Mizzou was led by Mark Mitchell with 18 points.

Half of Oklahoma’s offensive output came in the paint, where the Sooners outworked Mizzou 48-34. OU shot 96% at the free-throw line, making 25 of 26.

Oklahoma hit 57% of its field-goal attempts (32-of-56) on Wednesday night. Mizzou shot 47% (28-of-60) from the field, but just 29% from 3-point land (9-of-31). The Sooners made 7-of-17 3-point attempts.

The Sooners entered Wednesday night’s game as a team on the NCAA Tournament bubble. Beating Mizzou gives that resume a significant boost, but Oklahoma will try to add to that against Texas on Saturday and next week in the SEC Tournament.
