Sean Miller reportedly hired to replace Rodney Terry at Texas

Sean Miller and the Xavier Musketeers took down Texas in the First Four in Dayton last week, making the Longhorns the first of the 14 SEC tourney teams eliminated.
That led to the Longhorns making the decision to move on from Rodney Terry, who took over as the Texas head coach after Chris Beard was fired back in 2022.
Normally, the saying is “if you can’t beat them, join them,” but Miller is taking a bit of a different approach. Even if you can beat them, still join them.
Per a report from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello and Pete Thamel, Sean Miller has reached an agreement to leave Xavier and take over as the Texas head coach.
There were reports on Sunday that the 2 sides were expected to reach a deal. Now it appears that has come to fruition.
Miller brings a 487-196 overall record to Texas. He has had 2 stints as Xavier’s head coach (2004-09 and 2022-25) sandwiched around a stint at Arizona (2009-21). He has made the NCAA Tournament 13 times in his career, advancing as far as the Elite Eight, which he did 4 separate times (3 at Arizona, 1 at Xavier).
Will he have success at Texas? Leading scorer Tre Johnson is almost guaranteed to leave for the NBA Draft, where he could be a lottery pick, so Miller will have to hit the portal to find some players for his first Longhorns squad.
