SEC basketball has been the king of college basketball this season, and the records just keep on coming. First, the league known way more for its decades-long football dominance earned a record 14 berths in the NCAA Tournament when Selection Sunday came around.

That was well and good, but it was just the start. Last Sunday, when the dust settled on the second round of the tournament, the SEC set another record by getting a stunning 7 teams into the Sweet 16. And as great as that was, the SEC set itself up through the Sweet 16 by getting 4 teams into the Elite Eight, 1 in each region.

That means that the league has a shot at an all-SEC Final Four. That’s still in question, but on Saturday night the first shoe dropped when Florida made a furious rally to beat Texas Tech and punch its ticket to San Antonio. And with that win came another record, as the SEC now owns the all-time mark for wins in a single NCAA Tournament. The epic comeback by the Gators was the SEC’s 20th NCAA win in 2025, which passed the ACC’s 19 wins in the 2016 tournament.

What more does this historic season of SEC basketball have in store? That remains to be seen later Saturday night and on Sunday when the Final Four field will be set.

But, for now, Florida put the SEC over the top in yet another all-time category.
