SEC teams held 3 of the 4 No. 1 seeds in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament bracket preview.

The NCAA men’s basketball selection committee revealed an early look at its top 16 teams for next month’s tournament field on Saturday during a show on CBS. Auburn took the top overall spot in the bracket preview. Alabama was the No. 2 overall team in the field with Duke at No. 3 overall and Florida at No. 4 overall.

That bracket would see Auburn playing in the South Region. Alabama would be in the Midwest Region. Duke would be in the East Region and Florida would play in the West Region.

According to NCAA director of media coordination/statistics David Worlock, 84% of the teams who were featured in the initial bracket preview have remained in the top 4 seeds in the final bracket. (The show began in 2017.) And all 28 teams who were 1-seeds in the initial bracket preview held onto a top-4 seed in the final bracket.

The SEC is seeking to become the third conference ever to have 3 teams grab No. 1 seeds in the same NCAA Tournament. It would join the ACC in 2019 and the Big East in 2009.

Alabama (21-3, 10-1 SEC) and Auburn (22-2, 10-1 SEC) are set to do battle on Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

Florida (21-3, 8-3 SEC) hosts South Carolina Saturday evening.

Duke (21-3, 13-1 ACC) hosts Stanford Saturday afternoon.
