SEC ties all-time record for most Sweet 16 berths by 1 conference

The SEC proved its strength during the regular season, but the league needed to back that up by having postseason success in March. So far, so good as there are now 6 teams in the Sweet 16, which ties a record for the most by any conference.
That number ties the record set by the ACC in 2016. Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas have already qualified, and Ole Miss would make it a record breaking 7 if it can beat Iowa State on Sunday night.
Of all the teams already in, only Arkansas is on what you would call a Cinderella run. The Razorbacks pulled consecutive upsets against Kansas and then the huge win against St. John’s on Saturday afternoon.
It is one thing to say you are the best conference and have a great regular season, but to be able to back it up is another thing.
Of the teams in, and only Tennessee and Kentucky are going to square off in the Sweet 16. This is a rematch from 2 regular season games that the saw the Wildcats sweep the season series. So far, the SEC is living up to the hype, but how many teams making the Elite Eight and Final Four could determine where this league ranks all-time.
