Seth Greenberg puts Texas Tech on ‘upset alert’ ahead of game vs. Arkansas
Seth Greenberg has been around the game forever, and he’s dabbled in the frenzy that is the NCAA Tournament as a head coach at Long Beach State and Virginia Tech.
The 68-year-old can sniff out a tournament team that might be really dangerous, no matter its seeding and no matter the challenge. And for the coach turned ESPN analyst, that team is 10th-seeded Arkansas, which just happens to be the only remaining double-digit seed left in the tournament.
On Thursday night in San Francisco in the West Region semifinals, Greenberg believes that 3-seed Texas Tech should be squarely on “upset alert” when it faces John Calipari’s Razorbacks for a shot to get to the Final Four. In the leadup to the late tip-off, Greenberg went on SportsCenter and warned the college basketball world that the Hogs are coming for the Red Raiders now, just as they did in upsetting Kansas and St. John’s in the first 2 rounds of the tournament.
“This Arkansas thing is kind of intriguing to me. They’ve had different guys step up in different games. There’s a little bit about mojo and momentum. John Calipari has been here before. Now, look, Texas Tech is not good. They’re really good,” said Greenberg, who emphasized the expected return of Arkansas star Adou Thiero as a major reason for him believing that the Hogs have a great chance to pull their third straight upset.
Come Thursday night, we’ll see what Thiero gives the Razorbacks, assuming he plays, and if Greenberg’s feeling on Calipari’s Cinderella squad is backed up with yet another victory.
