The Vols smacked Kentucky on Friday night, 78-65, to stay alive in the NCAA Tournament. Point guard Zakai Zeigler was outstanding throughout the performance, posting 18 points and 10 assists with just 2 turnovers in 35 minutes. After losing both regular-season games against Kentucky, Tennessee held the Wildcats to a season-low-tying 65 points.
Tennessee is giving up just 61.7 points per game so far in the NCAA Tournament.
Houston has been just as stingy. The Cougars beat Purdue, 62-60, on a game-winning layup from Milos Uzan with 1 second to play. Houston’s opponents have averaged just 58.7 points per game so far in the tournament.
Neither team has been particularly strong against the spread this season — Tennessee is 19-17-1 ATS while Houston is 19-16-2 — but betting the under has been a safe bet all throughout the year. The point total has gone under the projected number in 21 games for each team. Three of Tennessee’s last 4 games have gone under while 7 of Houston’s last 10 have been under the projected total.
