Texas saw its 2024-25 end Wednesday evening. The Longhorns made the NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed, but lost its First Four game to Xavier 86-80. After the game, college basketball insider Jeff Goodman reported that Texas was likely to move on from Terry.
Terry became Texas’s head coach after the firing of Chris Beard during the 2022-23 season. The Longhorns posted a 22-8 record following Terry’s takeover, reaching the Elite 8. The following year, Texas’s last in the Big 12, UT made the NCAA Tournament again, but exited in the Round of 32.
The 2024-25 season was Texas’s first in the SEC. The Longhorns went just 6-12 in regular-season conference play, but SEC Tournament wins over Vanderbilt and Texas A&M helped secure a spot in the Big Dance.
Texas finished the season 19-16, bringing Terry’s record with the Longhorns to 62-37. He went 37-48 at UTEP (2018-21) and 126-108 (Fresno State).
