Florida won its first national championship since 2007 last week as they knocked off Houston 65-63 thanks to an incredible comeback in the second half.

The Gators were led by Walter Clayton, who scored 134 points during the team’s run to the national title, breaking the previous record of 97 points by Joakim Noah in 2007.

On Saturday, Florida coach Todd Golden confirmed his team will visit the White House to celebrate their National Championship victory.

“I’m pretty excited about that,” Golden told reporters Saturday.

The trip to the White House gives Golden and the 2024-25 national champions an opportunity to be together for at least 1 more team event. This Florida team is going to look much different next year. Florida will have to replace the incredible backcourt trio of Clayton, Will Richard and Alijah Martin.

For now, Golden is enjoying spending any time he can with this special group, and the trip to the White House gives the team another opportunity to be together. A specific date for the trip has not yet been announced.
