Wade Taylor IV stands at the top of Texas A&M’s scoring list, breaking the all-time record on the final day of the regular season at LSU.
The senior guard from Dallas surpassed Bernard King, whose record stood since 2003. King scored 1,990 career points during his time as an Aggie from 1999-2003, but Taylor surpassed that total during Saturday’s game in Baton Rouge. Taylor scored 16 points in Tuesday night’s upset of No. 1 Auburn, which left him just 9 points shy of breaking King’s record.
Taylor didn’t waste any time making Saturday his day, making his first 3 shot attempts and setting the record at the 14:49 mark of the 1st half against the Tigers. Taylor had the No. 22 Aggies in position for a road win that would get Texas A&M to 22 wins and 11-7 in the SEC.
It’s been an incredible final week of the regular season for Taylor. On Saturday, he broke the all-time scoring record, and on Senior Night in College Station on Tuesday, after helping the Aggies take down Auburn, Taylor’s jersey was raised to the rafters of Reed Arena before he was even done with his legendary career at Texas A&M.
Now, Taylor will look to finish off his career in style during the SEC Tournament before trying to lead the Aggies on a long NCAA Tournament run.
