Walter Clayton Jr., Todd Golden share incredible moment after winning national championship

Walter Clayton Jr. and Todd Golden have both played a huge role in Florida getting back to the top of the mountain in college basketball, as the Gators won a thriller, 65-63 against the Houston Cougars to win the national championship.

Clayton had been the man of the NCAA Tournament, as his pull 3-pointers and clutch shots had fans across the country going crazy. However, in the first half, he was barely able to get a shot. He

However, as he has done all tournament, he got going a bit in the second half. He ended up with 11 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. After the game, the star guard and his coach embraced after the game.Clayton did not score until making 2 free throws at the 14:57 mark of the 2nd half and did not make a field goal until a layup with 7:54 to go.

“Hey we got it coach,” Clayton told Golden after the game. “We are the champs.”

Clayton ended up scoring 134 points during this NCAA Tournament, shattering the previous record of 97 set by Joakim Noah in 2007. He joins Noah as a national champion as well as the Most Outstanding Player in the Final Four.

Golden, in his third year at Florida, had an as equally as impressive season. At just 39 years old, he becomes the youngest coach to win the national championship since Jim Valvano won 1 at 37 years old.
