Will Wade held his introductory press conference in Raleigh on Tuesday afternoon as he begins his tenure as the NC State men’s basketball head coach.

Wade made some big statements during his meeting with reporters, but most notably he vowed to deliver immediate results.

“I want to be very clear, this is not a rebuild,” Wade said. “We’re going to be in the top part of the ACC next year and we’re going to the NCAA Tournament. This is not going to be something that’s going to take a while.”

That’s a big statement for Wade to make, but his history suggests the ability to back it up. Wade just led McNeese State to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years and previously led LSU and VCU to the Big Dance.

While NC State made the Final Four roughly a year ago, the Wolfpack endured a very-disappointing 2024-25 campaign under Kevin Keatts. Later on in his press conference, Wade emphasized the importance of building a “consistent winner” for NC State fans to get behind.

“I think the fan base is a huge reason why we’re here,” Wade said. “I think everybody is hungry for a consistent winner. That’s what we’re going to do and we’re going to start immediately.”
