Will Wade will have success at NC State because he ‘does not care,’ says Seth Greenberg
Will Wade picked up an ACC win before he even technically started his new job as the NC State head basketball coach.
Wade’s McNeese team beat 5-seed Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. The Cowboys’ March Madness run came to a close Saturday with a loss to Purdue, but the future in Raleigh is an exciting one with Wade taking the controls.
On ESPN Saturday morning, analyst Seth Greenberg predicted that Wade will enjoy plenty of success.
“Will Wade will have success at NC State and the reason he’ll have success at NC State is because his style of play and he does not care. He’s got Duke over here, he’s got (North Carolina) over here, and he don’t give a blank,” Greenberg said. “He’s just gonna go out and get dudes that play his style of play.
“… Will Wade will find a way to win.”
Wade has found ways to win everywhere he’s been. He won 51 games in 2 seasons at VCU, then had 3 20-win seasons in 5 years at LSU. In 2 seasons with McNeese, Wade has gone 50-9 with 2 Southland regular-season titles, 2 Southland Tournament titles, and 2 NCAA Tournament appearances.
He now has 4 seasons as a head coach with 25 or more wins. NC State has just 1 since it won the national championship in 1983.
