Xavier Pinson has reportedly updated his transfer recruitment. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Pinson has 3 candidates to land his commitment with 2 new teams in the mix.

Georgia Tech and New Mexico State are the new teams in the mix. About a month ago, Pinson was reported to be deciding between Mississippi State and Xavier. It wouldn’t be out of character for Pinson to transfer to a school completely outside his top group. Ahead of his transfer to LSU for the 2021-22 season, Pinson had named Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Nebraska his 4 finalists.

Pinson’s latest commitment will be made as a graduate transfer. In his season at LSU, Pinson played in 27 games as the team’s starting point guard, posting averages of 28.1 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game with a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio. Pinson missed time in the middle of the season with an MCL sprain in his right knee after getting LSU off to a 14-1 start.

Pinson arrived at LSU after 3 seasons at Mizzou. In 2020-21, Pinson started all 26 games for MU, averaging 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
