Zakai Zeigler and the Tennessee Volunteers are looking like a team that could make it to the Final Four during March Madness. The Volunteers are 20-4 on the season, and ranked No. 5 in the country.

However, in the most recent Top 25 poll, the No. 5 ranking is only the fourth highest in the SEC. Auburn is No.1 while Alabama is No. 2. Just in front of the Volunteers is Florida, who is currently ranked No. 3.

The SEC has never been better in basketball, as it appears to be a lock to get at least 10 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Zeigler has been at Tennessee for a few years now, but he said that this year is different than any other season in Knoxville.

“Like you said, it’s a gauntlet,” Zeigler told Alyssa Lang and Matt McCall on SiriusXM SEC Radio. “Every single team and every single game is going to be a dogfight. The SEC is the best conference in the country, and I always prayed about playing in the best conference and at the highest level. No other year that I have been in college as compared to this year in the SEC. Every single game is a fight and a battle, but I love it. “

Zeigler is the second-leading scorer for Tennessee with 12.9 PPG, and is also 4th in the country with 7.5 APG, while also averaging an impressive 2.1 SPG.

The Volunteers will be in action on Tuesday night at Kentucky. The 2 teams played just less than 2 weeks ago in Knoxville, and the Wildcats knocked off the Volunteers, 78-73. For Zeigler and his team, there is an opportunity to exact some revenge and once again prove why the SEC is the best conference in college basketball.
