The SEC has not been loading up on quarterbacks at this stage of the recruiting process, but some are sure to arrive by the time next football season rolls around.

Actually, as of Monday afternoon, only seven high school quarterbacks had committed to SEC programs, but one of them is one of the top overall prospects in the country and another is a recruit who flipped from one SEC school to another in recent days.

This chart shows where the Top 50 QB commits are headed:

It could get better: Emory Jones, a 4-star and No. 6 overall QB in the class, reportedly is considering Florida after committing to Ohio State.

Here’s a look at them, plus a few other uncommitted prospects who SEC schools are pursuing, with rankings according to 247Sports.com:

1. (No. 2 QB overall) Justin Fields, Kennesaw, Ga.

Committed to: Georgia.

Skinny: The 5-star dual threat prospect passed for 4,187 yards and ran for 2,096 in two years as a starter at Harrison High, according to MaxPreps stats, and accounted for 69 touchdowns. He’s one of two 5-star QBs in the class and the only one to commit to the SEC.

2. (No. 7 QB overall) Matt Corral, Long Beach, Calif.

Committed to: Ole Miss.

Skinny: Corral flipped from Florida to Mississippi last week as the Rebels landed a pro-style quarterback to perhaps replace departed transfer Shea Patterson.

3. (No. 17 QB overall) Dakereon Joyner, Charleston, S.C.

Committed to: South Carolina.

Skinny: Joyner told The State (Columbia, S.C.) that he intends to sign with the Gamecocks on Wednesday. He tweaked an existing shoulder injury in a recent all-star game but it isn’t considered serious.

4. (No. 28 QB overall) Connor Noland, Greenwood, Ark.

Committed to: Arkansas.

Skinny: Noland, a 4-star pro-style passer ranked the second-best player overall in Arkansas, is also rated as a baseball prospect.

5. (No. 32 QB overall) Jalen Mayden, Sachse, Texas

Committed to: Mississippi State.

Skinny: In the first time all season that he played the fourth quarter (because his team was usually so far ahead), Mayden accounted for three touchdowns in the last quarter for Sachse High in a comeback win over Rowlett High in late October.

6. (No. 37 QB overall) Allan Walters, Hightstown, N.J.

Committed to: Vanderbilt.

Skinny: Walters is the 12th-rated recruit in New Jersey and the top quarterback, and his teammate at The Peddle School, 3-star center Daniel Dawkins, is slated to join Walters with the Commodores.

7. (No. 39 QB overall) Terry Wilson, Oklahoma City

Committed to: Kentucky.

Skinny: The 3-star dual threat prospect played this season at Garden City Community College in Kansas, where he threw for 2,113 yards and 26 touchdowns this season in leading the Broncbusters to an 8-4 season.
