Oregon State and Washington State have arrived at an unusual scheduling solution for the 2025 season.

The Beavers and Cougars will play each other twice during the 2025 campaign — once at home and once on the road. The programs announced that news on Wednesday afternoon.

“We’re excited to have a second straight year with seven dates at Reser Stadium,” Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes said in a statement. “We elected to play two games against Washington State in order to maximize the strength of this schedule, which includes intriguing matchups both at home and on the road.”

Both Oregon State and Washington State were in search of an additional game to fill out their 12-game slate for 2025, so this arrangement made sense for both parties.

The 2025 season will presumably be the past time that Oregon State and Washington State face such drastic scheduling challenges. The Pac-12 is set to add several new members, including Boise State, ahead of the 2026 season.

There’s not much precedent for football programs scheduling each other twice in the same season, but it has happened before. One recent example is Liberty and New Mexico State facing off twice as independent programs back in 2018. That was Liberty’s first campaign at the FBS level and New Mexico State’s first year as an independent. The home team won both matchups in that instance.

Oregon State will host Washington State on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025. The Beavers will then make the return trip to Pullman on Nov. 29 to close out the regular season.
