Pro Football Focus had exemplary grades for 2 SEC quarterbacks after the first full weekend of college football. The players selected might surprise you.
Kentucky’s Will Levis was the third-highest rated quarterback in the country following the Wildcats’ 45-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Levis flashed a little bit of everything, but he could end up being a problem for other SEC defenses this year.
Auburn’s Bo Nix was also listed as 5th best after the Tigers beat Akron 60-10. All eyes are on Nix this year in Bryan Harsin’s and Mike Bobo’s new offensive system.
Highest-graded Power Five QBs in Week 1:
1. Cade McNamara, Michigan – 93.0
2. Adrian Martinez, Nebraska – 92.3
3. Will Levis, Kentucky – 92.0
4. Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh – 91.2
5. Bo Nix, Auburn – 90.1 pic.twitter.com/eeOKvTI1lq— PFF College (@PFF_College) September 5, 2021
Nix could stay towards the top of the list for another week as Auburn will be heavily favored when they host Alabama State on Saturday. Things will be a bit tougher for Levis. Kentucky begins conference play by hosting Missouri this week.
Dave Hooker started covering Tennessee in 1998. He hosts an SEC radio show out of Chattanooga and covers the SEC for Saturday Down South.
