The Reese’s Senior Bowl made it official on Monday that University of Alabama tackle Austin Shepherd will play in this year’s game.
He’s just the third Crimson Tide player to accept an invitation, joining quarterback Blake Sims and fullback Jalston Fowler, although its not known if any other Alabama players have been asked to participate and the annual showcase for NFL scouts.
Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage announced Shepherd’s addition to the South Team roster during Nick Saban’s radio show last week prior to the Sugar Bowl.
This year’s game will be played Jan. 24 (4 p.m. ET, NFL Network) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
So far the game, and important week of practices in front of officials from every NFL team, will include 20 players from 11 teams in the Southeastern Conference.
