Four SEC teams made the cut when 247Sports released its 2022 College Football Team Talent Composite. Those programs included Alabama (No. 1), Georgia (No. 2), Texas A&M (No. 4) and LSU (No. 8). This ranking is based on recruiting talent, according to 247Sports.com

Here’s a look into how each SEC team in the top 10 stacks up:

  • Alabama Crimson Tide: 85 commitments, 14 five-star recruits, 59 four-star recruits
  • Georgia Bulldogs: 85 commitments, 15 five-star recruits, 52 four-star recruits
  • Texas A&M Aggies: 84 commitments, 10 five-star recruits, 46 four-star recruits
  • LSU Tigers: 71 commitments, 5 five-star recruits, 33 four-star recruits

The complete top 10 in order were Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Clemson, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. As would be implied by this, each of these teams have been heavily commended for their work on the recruiting trail and all are surrounded by high expectations heading into the 2022 college football season.

It will be interesting to watch how all of this translates to the football field on Saturdays, with Texas A&M a particularly polarizing team within the SEC that has largely risen to even further relevance because of head coach Jimbo Fisher’s success as a recruiter.
