Noah Clowney is one of the top power forwards in the 2022 recruiting class. And there’s a 50-percent chance that he’ll eventually be playing his college ball in the SEC.
On Wednesday, Clowney told Joe Tipton of On3 that he’s narrowed his college choices down to 4 schools: Alabama, Florida, Indiana and Virginia Tech. Clowney currently attends Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C., so none of these 4 programs have a home-state advantage.
Tipton also reported that Clowney has official visits scheduled for each of these schools. He’ll start by going to Indiana on Aug. 27, before visiting Florida on Sept. 3, Virginia Tech on Sept. 10 and Alabama on Sept. 24.
Clowney noted that Alabama was a school that emerged later in the recruiting process, as it didn’t give him an offer until June 23. But he also has reasons why he’s a fan of the Crimson Tide.
“When they saw that I could play against the best players, I feel like that gave them more confidence to recruit me,” Clowney told Tipton. “I do like Alabama, though. They play fast. I feel like I could help them.”
However, Clowney still has much to learn about Florida, which he plans on doing in a couple weeks.
“I like Florida, but I don’t know much about their playing style, so when I go on the visit, they’re going to have to show me all of this,” Clowney told Tipton. “I probably have the least knowledge about them, as of right now.”
Clowney is a 4-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite rankings, which places him No. 73 among all 2022 recruits and No. 11 among power forwards. He’s also the No. 2 recruit in the class out of South Carolina.
