Shane Beamer’s first appearance at SEC Media Days showed that the South Carolina coach lives and breathes recruiting. During his televised Q&A, Beamer made sure to talk about tight ends.

“We are going to pass to the tight end. We want the premier tight ends in America,” Beamer said, with a heavy emphasis on “want.”

Beamer’s tight end comments were instantly linked to Oscar Delp. The West Forsyth (Georgia) standout is rated 4-stars, the No. 3 tight end and No. 99 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. The final visit he took in June was to South Carolina after visiting Florida, Georgia and Michigan.

Delp liked what he heard from Beamer at SEC Media Days.

“It was super cool hearing that and him (Coach Beamer) talk about that. I definitely want to be at a school that utilizes that position and I’m really feeling the love from the whole South Carolina fan base,” Delp told reporter Brett Greenberg.

The Beamer staff’s recruiting has been generating some buzz. Everyone would take notice of South Carolina recruiting if the Gamecocks beat out everyone else for Delp.
