2019 5-star running back prospect John Emery Jr. decommitted from Georgia on Thursday, announcing it on his Twitter account.
Out of Destrehan, La., Emery is the No. 2 running back in the country, per the 247 Sports Composite. Emery holds offers from SEC schools such as Alabama, Auburn, and Florida among others, but has been heavily pursued by LSU in recent weeks. The decommitment also comes less than two weeks after LSU’s 36-16 win over Georgia in Death Valley, where Emery was in attendance.
The running back was seen after the game with LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, prompting speculation about just how firm his commitment to the Bulldogs was.
After one of the biggest wins of his career, #LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is currently sitting at a table chatting outside Tiger Stadium. 5-star RB and #UGA commit John Emery is seated next to him.

Emery is not the only highly-touted prospect to back off their Georgia commitment, just three weeks ago the Bulldogs lost three commitments, knocking them out of their No. 1 ranking on the 247 Sports Composite. Georgia now sits at No. 4 in the rankings.
