With a flurry of commitments Monday, including wide receiver Binjimen Victor, quarterback Dwayne Haskins and linebacker Keandre Jones, Ohio State overtook LSU for the nation’s top-ranked 2016 recruiting class.
But in three days, as long as things remain status quo otherwise, the Tigers could snatch the top spot right back.
Five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (Monroe, La./Neville) is expected to decide Friday and he’s down to (drum roll, please) — LSU and Ohio State.
Most expect he will end up with the home team and that would give LSU the points to move back on top of the Class of 2016 team football recruiting rankings according to 247Sports Composite, which weighs the ratings and rankings of the entire recruiting media industry.
Given the amount of high-level talent on the defensive line in Louisiana this cycle, it was anticipated that the Tigers would sign an outstanding defensive line class and Lawrence is one of the highest-rated defensive linemen in the country. This would be yet another great piece for defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, who is one of the best in college football, to develop.
