After six days and over 40 hours of deliberation, the jury has found Aaron Hernandez not guilty of first-degree murder in the double murder trial of victims Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The two men were gunned down in their car while sitting at a Boston stop light in 2012. Hernandez’s involvement in the case was not brought to light until after his first murder conviction following the death of Odin Lloyd.
The case against Hernandez was built using the testimony of his former friend Alexander Bradley, who claims to have been with the former Gator during the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. Hernandez and his defense claim Bradley was the shooter, while all of Bradley’s testimony pointed the finger at Hernandez.
Hernandez is already serving a life sentence for the murder of Lloyd, while Bradley is also currently serving time in prison for shooting up a Connecticut nightclub in 2014. Bradley turned on Hernandez after the former star tight end allegedly shot Bradley in the face, in an attempt to murder him.
