ACC starting quarterback, dark-horse Heisman contender, to miss extended time with medical issue

Sam Hartman, the starting quarterback at Wake Forest, finished second in the ACC with 39 touchdown passes in 2021. He finished third in passing yards, throwing for 4,228 last season.
He entered the 2022 season with major expectations, with some even mentioning him as a potential dark-horse Heisman Trophy contender.
Sadly, it seems Hartman will miss a significant portion of the 2022 season. It was revealed on Wednesday morning that Hartman would be out for a while with a “non-football related medical condition”:
Wake Forest just announced starting QB Sam Hartman is out for an extended period of time for a non-football related medical condition. Praying everything is OK first and foremost.

Hartman and coach Dave Clawson both issued statements about the news:
Wake Forest is set to open the 2022 season on Thursday, Sept. 1, against VMI, with a trip to Vanderbilt on the schedule for Week 2.
Hopefully, Hartman can return to the field soon and his medical issue is cleared up. As Clawson said, Hartman has had Wake Forest record-setting seasons the past 2 years.
