Adam Schefter says Arch Manning could delay NFL Draft entry until 2027
Adam Schefter has a message for NFL teams who are hoping to select Arch Manning in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The ESPN NFL analyst said boldly that Manning, who’s set to take over as the starting quarterback at Texas this fall, might just stick around Austin for another season after that.
During an appearance on Get Up on Thursday morning, Schefter floated the idea that Manning might not leave college just yet after he gets through with his 1 season as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback in 2025.
“There’s no guarantee that Arch Manning is coming out after next year. It sounds like he certainly could be staying [at Texas] beyond next year,” said Schefter. “I’m not a college football insider, but none of the Mannings ever went out early, and I don’t know with NIL money being what it is, why Arch would do that.
“So, all this conversation about tanking for Arch next year, he may be in the draft in 2027, not even next year.”
While Schefter might not be a college football insider, as he admitted, he’s one of the most respected NFL insiders in the business, so anything he says on national TV should be taken seriously. Time will tell — likely sometime after Manning leads the Longhorns this fall to whatever point they reach, College Football Playoff or not — if Manning ignores that NIL money and enters the draft in 2026 or stays in school for another season.
