After collapsing on the field during the second quarter of Saturday’s game vs. Ohio State at Ohio Stadium, Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Luke Fickell offered an update on safety Kyriq McDonald.

Speaking to reporters in his postgame press conference, Fickell said McDonald had “been cleared” by the team’s medical staff.

With the game being broadcast on ABC, sideline reporter Allison Williams was able to speak to McDonald’s mother. She shared that her son has a “history of seizures.”

A three-star prospect in the 2017 class according to the 247Sports Composite, McDonald originally committed to Alabama. A Huntsville, Alabama native, he spent two years with the Crimson Tide program before transferring to Cincinnati in the summer of 2019. He received a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility this year.
