High-profile nonconference games played at neutral sites have become increasingly popular in college football in recent years, especially to start the season.
Don’t, however, look for Alabama to schedule such a game anytime soon.
Why?
Crimson Tide athletic director Greg Byrne said as much during a recent speaking engagement.
Byrne said that Alabama could eventually look at playing a neutral site game “down the road” but that for now the program is focused on scheduling home-and-home series.
Alabama is not looking to schedule neutral site games in the immediate future. “We may down the road,” Bama AD Greg Byrne says at #SBJIAF event, reiterating the Tide’s pivot in recent years, but not seeking them. Home-and-homes are the future.

Alabama did not play a neutral site game in 2022 but did play Miami in Atlanta a year ago and has played a number of such games under Nick Saban.
The Crimson Tide finished their 2022 regular season with a 10-2 record and will next play Kansas State on New Years Eve in the Sugar Bowl.
