Alabama claims most Super Bowl-winning players all-time after Eagles victory
Alabama has never been shy about boasting about its success, whether it be within the confines of the SEC or on the national scale with championships galore on both levels.
But this time, the perennial college football behemoth is bragging about an accomplishment that has nothing to do with college football. This time, Alabama is pointing out something in the aftermath of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory on Sunday night.
What exactly does the Eagles’ win have to do with anything regarding Alabama? Well, a lot.
With former Alabama star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who finished his career at Oklahoma, leading the way for Philadelphia, and with a sprinkling of other ex-Crimson Tide standouts playing for the Eagles, including DeVonta Smith and Landon Dickerson, Alabama is now claiming the most Super Bowl-winning players of any college football program. There are now 54 Super Bowl-winning players from Alabama in all, according to the school.
USC is second with 50 Super Bowl-winning players, Penn State is third with 48, followed by Georgia and Michigan with 47 each.
Back to Alabama, which also boasts the first 3 Super Bowl MVPs in Bart Starr, who was the MVP of the first 2 Super Bowls, followed by Super Bowl 3 MVP Joe Namath, a Crimson Tide legend.
