Alabama fan gets into verbal altercation with Diego Pavia after game
As Vanderbilt left the field following Saturday’s 30-14 loss to Alabama, quarterback Diego Pavia got into a bit of a verbal spat with one Crimson Tide fan sitting near the exit.
“I’ll do whatever the f*** I want,” Pavia shouted back at a fan who was berating him. Several other Vanderbilt players had words for the Alabama fan, as did a Vanderbilt staffer who shouted back, “You’re talking to kids.”
Eventually, the fan appeared to be confronted by someone else and he walked away from the tunnel.
AL.com’s Wesley Sinor captured the altercation.
Pavia certainly opened himself up to some venom from Alabama fans throughout the week. Earlier in the week, he claimed the game “won’t be close” if Vanderbilt plays its game. Then, during pregame warmups on Saturday, Pavia practiced the victory formation.
Especially in unfriendly confines, talking the talk requires one to eventually walk the walk. Pavia didn’t do that on Saturday. His 2 red zone turnovers proved costly as the Commodores lost for the first time this season.
Pavia, the hero in last year’s shocking upset of Alabama in Nashville, completed just 58% of his throws for 198 yards with a touchdown, 2 picks, and a fumble.
