Alabama fan seen with ‘killin’ our way through the SEC’ shirt at SEC Tournament
Alabama will play for the SEC Tournament championship on Sunday after dispatching Missouri 72-61 Saturday afternoon inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
During the game, attention turned briefly to the stands, as a reporter for AL.com encountered two self-described Alabama fans wearing shirts that appeared to reference the murder of Jamea Jonae Harris. The backs of the shirts read “Killin’ our way through the SEC in ‘23.”
Earlier this week, former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles was indicted on capital murder charges in the killing of Harris on Jan. 15.
According to AL.com’s John Talty, the SEC has said in a statement that any fan wearing the shirts to Sunday’s championship game will not be allowed to enter the arena. Fans spotted inside the arena wearing the shirts at any time will be asked to leave.
Went up to the guy wearing the “Killing our way through the SEC shirt” and he told me to “Get the fuck out of my face.”
Claimed that he was, in fact, a Bama fan and would be back for tomorrow’s game. pic.twitter.com/y6u1NEv6Jp

Since Miles’ dismissal from the team, coach Nate Oats’ program has remained in the spotlight.
A February pre-trial hearing revealed that Miller transported the handgun that was used in the murder. Miller has not been charged with any crimes. Alabama — despite a cascade of public pressure — has continued to play its star player while maintaining he has not broken any school or team policies.
Miller, named the SEC Player of the Year earlier this week, has been a target of criticism and jeers from road crowds since. On Saturday, according to AL.com, fans chanted “Brandon Killer” as the freshman warmed up during the pregame.
The Tide face Texas A&M Sunday in the championship, with tip-off set for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
