TUSCALOOSA, Ala. _ Montel McBride, a lineman who signed with the University of Alabama in the recruiting Class of 2014, appears to be headed to a junior college after failing to qualify academically.

According to AL.com, McBride is expected to enroll at Iowa Western Community College, with the paperwork completed soon. The Reivers were the 2012 NJCAA national champions.

The three-start prospect out of Plant City, Fla., listed as 6-foot-4, 329 pounds, was slated to be an offensive lineman with the Crimson Tide. Running back Bo Scarbrough, rated a five-star recruit by 247Sports is the only other player in the signing class who has yet to qualify and enroll.

Alabama is set to open training camp on Friday, with players reporting Thursday. Without McBride the roster is down to the limit of 85 scholarship players.
