Alabama gets crushed for new song at Bryant-Denny Stadium
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Alabama became the latest school around college football to attempt to recreate the atmosphere at New York Mets games when closer Edwin Diaz enters in the ninth inning.
When Diaz comes in from the bullpen, the Mets play “Narcos” by Timmy Trumpet. Recently, Timmy Trumpet himself was on hand at Citi Field to play Diaz to the mound:

Now Alabama and other schools around the South are trying to recreate that magic. You can see Alabama’s attempt, featuring an incredible light show at Bryant-Denny Stadium, below:

However, using a song that became popular this year with the Mets didn’t go over so well in Atlanta Braves country.
As you can see below, the Tide’s replies on Twitter were overwhelmingly negative:

Par for the course. You take a song about Tennessee and make it your own and then bite on Edwin Diaz’s theme music. Just stick to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Will the Tide continue to use the song moving forward? We’ll see what happens in Week 3 when Louisiana-Monroe visits Bryant-Denny Stadium.
