Alabama is having trouble with its wide receiver group, Alabama insider Aaron Suttles explained on “The Next Round.”
He said the receivers have struggled with dropping easy passes, which was a consistent issue with the team last year, too.
“None of these guys have been consistent and it’s flat-out embarrassing,” Suttles said. “It’s flat-out embarrassing that this team is stacked with 4-star receivers that can’t catch the ball. I think Nick Saban is trying to protect them a little bit in some of his answers, because he’s trying to built some confidence.”
Suttles believes some of these issues could be caused from playing with several different quarterbacks in practice as the Tide looks to nail down a starter, but has yet to see anyone emerge as a leader for the group.
“It’s an issue, and somebody has got to step up on that group,” he said.
Suttles offered some hope to Tide fans. He said that many of the issues could work themselves out as Alabama gets into the swing of the regular season.
Regardless, Alabama’s receivers will need to improve if the Tide wants to return to the top of the SEC.
