Alabama has earned a commitment from former Louisiana cornerback Trey Amos.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Amos spent 3 seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns before entering the transfer portal right at the spring deadline. He’ll have 2 years of eligibility remaining and should add to the depth in the secondary for the Crimson Tide immediately.

Amos started 10 of his 11 appearances for Louisiana last season, finishing with 35 tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 1 tackle for loss. He appeared in a combined 23 games over his first 2 seasons with the program and totaled 24 tackles, 6 pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1 interception across those campaigns.

He’ll join a talented group of corners at Alabama that includes Kool-Aid McKinstry, Terrion Arnold, and Earl Little Jr. McKinstry is expected to have one side of the field already locked down entering into the summer months. Arnold had the other corner spot with the first-team defense during Alabama’s A-Day.

But Alabama was in need of some depth after Tre’Quon Fegans left to join USC and Jahquez Robinson left for Colorado. The Crimson Tide also lost Eli Ricks to the NFL Draft.

Amos is the fourth known transfer commitment for the Tide so far this offseason, joining quarterback Tyler Buchner, linebacker Trezmen Marshall, and tight end CJ Dippre.
