Based upon the number of high-profile games Alabama plays in, there are plenty of tense and stressful moments.

It’s key for any player to not get overly emotional during these instances. Mistakes will be made at a greater clip, and it could lead to a game-changing play.

Alabama linebackers Rashaan Evans and Reuben Foster have played with each other dating back to their high school days. As a means to combat these pressure-packed moments, the duo do one thing: Tell jokes.

“It’s crazy, funny. Like we’ll laugh at one play and then the next we’ll be mad,” Foster told AL.com.

Evans elaborated further on the humor that exists between the teammates:

“We could be in the middle of a play and be telling each other jokes. It’s crazy. That’s kind of how we are. We’ve been playing with each other for a little bit. We played with each other in high school. It was kind of like that, too. Being able to do it again all on the big stage is amazing.

It really can be anything, we’re just out there having fun. I feel like if you don’t have fun with the game you can take it too seriously and be too timid and not play to your best ability. We try not to be too tense, because whenever you are in a big game like that you want to try and kill everything. That’s how we try to do it.”

Alabama will face Washington in one of the College Football Playoff semifinals. While head coach Nick Saban rarely cracks a smile, he’ll surely hope the linebacker pair will be cracking jokes in a potential Crimson Tide victory.
