Alabama, No. 1 team in the nation, falls on the road at unranked Vanderbilt

Alabama entered Saturday’s game against unranked Vanderbilt as the No. 1 team in the country.
No one told that to Vanderbilt. The Commodores entered Saturday afternoon’s game 0-60 in its last 60 games against top-5 teams and had never beaten a team ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll.
The stadium in Nashville felt more like Bryant-Denny Stadium at the start, as there were plenty of Crimson Tide faithful in attendance.
Well, there were thousands of disappointed fans by the time the game came to an end. Vanderbilt jumped out to a 20-7 lead in the first half as Alabama struggled on both sides of the ball.
Eventually, Alabama started fighting back, but it was too little, too late for the Crimson Tide.
On this night, Alabama became the first No. 1 team to lose to an unranked team the week after beating a top-2 opponent, per the broadcast on the SEC Network.
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe entered the weekend as the Heisman favorite. He threw an interception and lost a fumble. It wasn’t a horrible performance from Milroe, but it’ll now be tough for him to stay in Heisman contention with this loss on Alabama’s résumé.
This is a massive shakeup in a week where top-10 Mizzou suffered a loss, too.
