As many 2016 signees get a head start on their academic careers, there were some notable absences on Tuesday at the University of Alabama as summer classes began.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban didn’t sound worried in a report by al.com, but he did say a few recruits were not yet enrolled:
“No, we have a couple of guys that are there but have to get their final grades,” Saban said at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, Fla. “Another guy that’s not getting out of school until tomorrow. We have one guy who has not qualified yet.”
Al.com speculated that defensive tackle Kendell Jones was the player who Saban said was still in school, but other names weren’t given:
Saban didn’t identify the other players who are waiting on grades or the one who hasn’t qualified. He did, however, say full updates will be given when questions are resolved.
It’s possible the player who has yet to qualify is four-star RB B.J. Emmons, who was working on his academic eligibility as recently as April, according to seccountry.com.
