Ty Lockwood flipped from Ohio State to Alabama on Tuesday, and the 4-star tight end recruit helped propel Alabama to the No. 1 spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.
Lockwood had been committed to Ohio State for about a year, and he became the 18th commitment to Alabama, however, just the 11th-highest ranked recruit in the class. Alabama has 4 recruits as 5-stars, and just 2 who are 3-stars.
The top classes are Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia, Ohio State and Texas.
As recruiting goes, these rankings remain fluid, and could change by the end of the week.
Alabama just jumped Notre Dame for the No. 1 recruiting class on 247 Sports after landing four-star tight end Ty Lockwood.
Irish can overtake the Tide on Thursday if Notre Dame lands four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry.

Some of the recent notable commits have been Georgia legacy Justice Haynes, who did not follow his father and commit to the Bulldogs. Then there was 4-star offensive lineman Olaus Alinen, who is from Finland via Connecticut, and considered Miami late in the process.
The big names are 5-stars, in running back Richard Young, defensive backs Tony Mitchell, Caleb Downs, and Jahlil Hurley help the Tide with what’s currently one of the top per commit ratings in the country.
There’s also quarterbacks Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan.
