There are a lot of football players playing every Saturday for teams throughout the Southeastern Conference and the entire country. But a special handful of those elite players are labeled as athletes, for good reason.

At Alabama, it’s no different. Junior defensive back Tony Brown will be competing in the 110-meter hurdles on Friday, and if he wins it, Brown will have won two national titles in 2016 through just the month of June.

Brown placed third in his heat at 13.71 seconds during the Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday to obtain the eighth and final spot for the NCAA final. Keith Talley, a former Crimson Tide member, won the event back in 1986. Talley posted a school-record time of 13.33 set that year.

Just this past year, Brown was a first-team All-American and a part of the Tide’s 4×100 relay that finished eighth in the NCAA championships.

With respect to football, Brown is a former big-time prospect who’s currently facing a NCAA suspension. Alabama is currently appealing the suspension.
