TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Although an official announcement has yet to be made, University of Alabama safety Landon Collins has reportedly decided to forego his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft.
The initial report came from Yahoo’s Rand Getlin, who cited league sources on Thursday morning.
The unanimous first-team All-American is expected to be the first safety selected.
Four other players are thought to be considering the jump to the NFL a year early: Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon, Reggie Ragland and Jarran Reed. Cooper is being touted as the best receiver available if he leaves while Yeldon may not be able to improve his draft stock even if he returns.
The deadline for underclassmen to decide is Jan. 15.
Collins led the Tide in tackles with 103 and tied for the team lead in interceptions with three this season. He as was credited with 10 passes defended, including seven passes broken up, recovered two fumbles and forced one.
