Anthony Richardson entered Florida’s 2022 season as one of the top prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft. While his performance last season has some analysts rethinking projections of Richardson as a top-5 pick, Chris Trapasso with CBS Sports currently has Richardson as the top pick of the draft after a trade.
According to Trapasso, the Indianapolis Colts would trade up to the No. 1 overall spot to make the pick of Richardson. He also pointed to new Colts head coach Shane Steichen wanting a QB that’s “at least a little bit like Jalen Hurts” in defense of Richardson’s playing style.
“He’s going to blow the roof off Lucas Oil Stadium at the combine and there’s just going to be such a stark difference between Anthony Richardson as a physical and athletic specimen and Bryce Young.” –@ChrisTrapasso on why he’s mocking @GVOaant as the #1 pick to Indy via trade. pic.twitter.com/U0TtukGfw8

“I just think at 6-foot-4 and 232 pounds, he’s going to blow the roof off Lucas Oil Stadium at the combine and there’s just going to be such a stark difference between Anthony Richardson as a physical and athletic specimen and Bryce Young,” said Trapasso.
“If you’re moving up for a QB in this draft… I think you have to do it for a QB that has big-time arm talent or big-time athleticism and Anthony Richardson has both of those in spades and certainly, he’s more impressive in those key areas of today’s QB than Bryce Young.”
With many analysts currently projecting Young as the top QB in the draft, we’ll see if Richardson or any other QB can make a leap following the NFL Combine.
