Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News knew his Week 12 AP Top 25 would catch some flack, but as he always does, submitted his ballot without acknowledging the chatter of outside opinion.
Following Saturday night’s loss to Oklahoma, Baylor should not be a nationally-ranked team, according to Wilner. He left the Bears out of this week’s Top 25, citing “when (Baylor) played a quality opponent … they finally gave us a substantive result … and they lost.”
Baylor is ranked No. 10 in Sunday’s Week 12 AP Top 25.
For the third consecutive week, Wilner placed Alabama at the top of his rankings. Florida, the SEC East champ, moved up to No. 4. The other SEC program ranked in Wilner’s top 25 is LSU at No. 25.
Wilner writes:
The Crimson Tide continues to have the best results, and it’s not even close: Wisconsin, Georgia, A&M, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi State, LSU … Nobody has a resume like that. Nobody.
(You might not think Tennessee is very good, or Arkansas. But we’re in the middle of November, and when assessing quality wins, it’s absolutely time to apply the Bill Parcells Rule. “You are what your record says you are.”)
