Arch Manning certainly answered the call in the place of an injured Quinn Ewers in Saturday’s contest against the UTSA Roadrunners, finishing the game 9-for-12 passing, throwing for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Many expected Manning to be just as solid through the air as those in his family tree who took the field were, and he’s been just that in what we’ve seen of him to this point. But no one expected the wheels he displayed when he broke out on a 67-yard touchdown run in the 56-7 win, clocking a speed of some 20.7 mph.

Manning doesn’t credit his father, Cooper Manning, for the genetics it took to accomplish that. He credits his mother, Ellen Heidingsfelder.

“I credit my mom for that speed, not my dad,” Arch Manning said.

Manning’s scoring run was met with a similar type of reaction from the public, considering the Mannings before Arch fit the bill of the traditional pocket passer.

“This has to be the longest touchdown run in Manning Family history! Arch got all the athleticism!” former NFL player Emmanuel Acho said in a post on X.

It’s an exciting start for Manning, who has been pinned as a Heisman Trophy candidate after making such a strong impression.
