Arch Manning has received plenty of support from Texas fans throughout the season, with some calling for him to play over starting quarterback Quinn Ewers on several occasions. It was a lot of the same on Friday as the Longhorns face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl.

Ewers struggled early on through the contest, having completed 5 of his 8 passing attempts for 75 yards by the time it was the top of the second quarter. Texas trailed Ohio State, 7-0 at that point, but the way the momentum was shifted in the Buckeyes’ favor at that point felt a lot more lopsided.

Social media had plenty to say about the way Ewers kicked things off, with some calling for Manning to take the field. That’s something that, if not in this game, they will see in the very near future after Ewers told Pete Thamel of ESPN that he was headed to the 2025 NFL Draft. If things keep up this way, it does not seem that he will be sorely missed in Austin. One of the biggest complaints, which was quite valid, is the way he was performing poorly when he was pressured.

That’s something that will need to be remedied quickly in order for Texas to have a legitimate chance to punch its ticket to the CFP national title game.
