Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham is fuming over the way his kicking game is currently going and brought it up in his postgame press conference following the 24-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats.

He pulled a bit of a Mike Leach (who quite literally did hold unorthodox kicker tryouts at Texas Tech), saying that he was “dead serious” about having kicking tryouts on Monday for the position with ASU.

“Our kicking game is atrocious,” Dillingham said. “If you can kick and you’re at Arizona State, email me. We’re going to have kicking tryouts on Monday. Bring it on; kicking tryouts Monday… I’m dead serious.”

Ian Hershey had two kicking attempts throughout the loss on Saturday, missing both of them. Heading into the game Hershey had made 7 of his 10 field goal attempts.

It will be interesting to see who shows up at kicking tryouts on Monday as Dillingham noted, and if Arizona State truly does move forward with a new kicker from said tryouts outside of Hershey.

Hershey has not made a single one of his field goal attempts since his lone made field goal in the 30-22 loss to Texas Tech. His last miss was his one attempt in the 35-31 win over the Kansas Jayhawks.
